DIALOGUE THROUGH GLASS

Outlines of landscapes, as well as the silhouette of the human face are individual, unique. I have always been interested in the contour of a face, the distinctive curved line one owns throughout live. Beholding someone’s face from the side, I can see the person in a way they would never see themselves. Just as my own silhouette remains hidden from myself.

LANGSAMKEIT

Landscapes, cityscapes, faces of today and yesterday, they are all SCAPES in my mind´s eye. Variations of reality and my idea of it, to always look at it from a different angle – weaving past and present into a valid moment – a unique moment never happening again, impossible to be recreated again. The images mirror a concealed past, another time, yet also something else after all these years – glimpses of something that remains open ended.

DUST IN THE WIND

The small dusty box in the cupboard – forgotten images of a time long ago, revealed to me. Random small piles of photographic negatives, scratched layers of past realities. Images of a space which does not exist anymore…early exposures, fragments and cut outs, I gradually tried to find a form to uncover and appreciate these found objects, eventually tried to bring these early exposures  to live – as a person of today.

BERLIN RIDE

Contemplating the world through a window as a filter. My work is based on emotions, beyond grand theories it is subject to transience and it´s fleeting both in the mind’s eye and materially. The journey commences at the first stop and ends at the last stop, which is the same – no starting and no ending point to it.

JOURNEY

A train journey in northern Germany on a rainy day, sitting by the window. From time to time a picture is taken, the camera catches a cottage, bridges over rivers and canals, an oncoming train, moments that reflect the character of this area and the atmosphere of this very day.

WINTERJOURNEY

I like the idea of looking at an image as if looking through a window – the idea of entering this image, arriving. Yet what l see passes me by, and I let it. I let everything pass by, landscapes, cities, people.

PASSING BY

It´s passing by – Time is transient and impermanent – memory has a lot to do with it. Our life develops itself – and in retrospect we are looking at our lifetime – we look at it like at a big picture. It is a picture we have to let go of.

DWELLINGS

To me, photography has similarities with painting and my work is as much at home in painting and printmaking as well as in the medium of photography. Creating a cyanotype has a very graphic, as well as a painterly side to it. It’s about the aesthetic of the surfaces. This process combines the visual language of painting, printmaking and photography

AT THE WINDOW

Window as a boundary between the inside and the outside, window as a frame.

NEVER ENDING

Faces pass by, gazing at each other or at something. Immersing into an endless room, analog of social media. – Self portrait with remote shutter release – leafing through magazines.

READING KIERKEGAARD

I am reading the same Texts over and over again, comparing it with the present and my memories. My mind´s eyes images mirror a concealed past, a hidden time yet also something else glimpses of a tale that remains open-ended.

ENLIGHTENMENT

My endless journeys to enlightend Junkspaces – the countless trips to the realm of the beautyful and the artificial – Inspired by Rem Kohlhaas I am the visual kleptomaniac, within piled up layers of lifelessness, of loneliness, disorders, of beauty in transition. Journeys to nonplaces in Berlin and London, urban landscapes. Public space is full of speed yet static, Morbid layers of the void, patterns and destructions, anonymous ornaments.

LONDON ORNAMENTS

My work reflects the belief that memory is fluid and ever changing. Fleeting glimpses into cityscapes and landscapes can turn into a strong sense of presence. A presence of observing, both witnessing and remembering.

GOTHAM CITY

An atmospheric, introspective feel pervades the images and my memory of this time.

I was getting to know the streets of New York, hidden as a multiple self in Anonymity.
